How to Make Jalapeño Poppers for Halloween | Hilah Cooking
What's up whack jobs? It's Hilah, and I amback for season two of Hilah Cooking. Whooo!
Just in time for Halloween, everyone's favoriteSatan worshipping holiday. As you can see,
I am dressed as a little Indian. This actuallywas not a Halloween costume. This was my wedding
dress, so I hope I don't get bacon greaseall over it today. I am gonna show you how
to make what I like to call Hallowpeno popperstoday. It's a little idea I came up with at
3:00 in the morning one night when I was wokenup for no apparent reason which happens a
lot, totally blows, but sometimes I come upwith brilliant ideas like this.
Okay, so this month we're going to be doingsome Halloween-themed party foods, and if
you notice, like the ingredients here thatI have aren't like some kind of brilliant
lightning bolt, I am a fucking genius, butthe preparation that I am gonna show you is
pretty genius if I say so myself. So we'vegot bacon and jalapeno peppers and some cream
cheese, and some pecans, but I want to getto those later skater. So, I got a baking
sheet here that's covered with parchment paper. You can use foil. Don't use wax paper because
it just disintegrates in the oven, and soI am sure you've had something like this before,
but. . so when I cut these in half, and thenwith my one and only grapefruit spoon, I am
gonna get the seeds and the membranes out,and you can leave some seeds if you like
it a little hotter, but I am gonna actuallyput some cock sauce on it later, so I am going
make it hotter later. Then I probably should have opened this already
because I look like an idiot when I try toopen stuff, but I am gonna put a little bit
of cream cheese inside each of these littlebabies which again, I am sure you've seen
this before. Don't get all on my ass aboutit, and then, yeah, just do like so, maybe
like a teaspoon or a couple of teaspoons dependingon how big your peppers are, and I purposely
picked out kind of smallish peppers for this, and the bacon that I am using is the center
cut bacon, just because it's a little bitshorter. If you're using giant peppers, you
probably want to get like regular kind ofbacon, but don't use thick bacon. Anyway,
I am still riding high on my bacon takedownwinnings from like March or whatever, and
still getting free bacon, so I figured I coulduse it for this.
All right, so then I am gonna estimate abouta third of the bacon, and then I am gonna
like cut it into little fringes, and thenthe side, oh, and meanwhile I have my oven
preheating at 425. Okay, then I get my littlepepper, and I put it like that, and then I
am gonna pull the little bacon fringes upand over and like interlace them like so,
and then I am gonna flip it over and put onmy cookie sheet, like that, and this is a
little bit labor intensive I will grant you,but all of those pimps and hos and vampires
that are at your house, at your Halloweenparty are expecting something fancy, and by
golly, I think that you should give it tothem, not in a sexual way, but with food.
Okay, so now I have six little dealy bobbersand I put them in the 425 degree oven for
10-12 minutes and then you will see a specialsurprise, not my boobs. Turn the oven off,
all right, these are really, really hot. Asyou can see it's like lava. Okay, last one
and if I had some, I would have set theseon some paper towels first, but the roll of
paper towels that I had since like 1999 finallyran out. So tough titties. All right, I am
gonna get this out of the way so I don't burnmyself, and now for the fun part, just kidding,
it's all fun. Um, but I am gonna half theselittle pecan halves and I am gonna put them
in into the cut end, and it's gonna make alittle head of my little beetles, and then
like that little end looks like pictures kindof so, that's the end that's gonna stick out,
and I tried this once where I put the pecansin first, but by the time the bacon was done
it just got, they got
kind
of burned, so c'est la vie.
